Enabling voice control for Home Assistant (HA) through Bemfa Cloud means letting HA receive commands from smart speakers such as Xiao Ai, Xiaodu, and Tmall Genie via the Bemfa platform. How it works: the speaker sends your command to Bemfa Cloud, Bemfa forwards it to your local HA over MQTT, and HA then controls the devices in your home.
As of April 15, 2026 (the latest information available), Bemfa Cloud itself is still running and has never announced that it is dropping Home Assistant support. The problem you are hitting is not a dead server — it is a version incompatibility in the HA integration.

1. Current Status (Important)
1. Bemfa Cloud services are working normally — the website, console, device onboarding, and Xiao Ai / Tmall Genie / Xiaodu binding all function.
– No announcement has been made about dropping HA support.
2. The problem lies with the HA integration (Bemfa) — the original author’s repository, larry-wong/bemfa, is no longer maintained (last update June 2025).
– Since HA 2025.3, the internal paho-mqtt library was upgraded (from 1.x to 2.x), and API and constant paths changed.
– The old integration fails immediately with 500, RequirementsNotFound, TypeError, or ImportError, and cannot be loaded.
2. Latest Working Solution (Valid as of 2026.4)
You must switch to the community-maintained Bemfa integration that supports the newer HA releases. This has been verified.

3. Install the Integration & Sync Devices
1. Settings → Devices & Services → + Add Integration
2. Search for bemfa
3. Enter your Bemfa Cloud private key (UID) → Submit
4. Click Options (gear icon) → check the devices you want to expose to Xiaodu → Save
4. Binding Xiaodu (Unchanged)
1. Xiaodu App → + → Add Device
2. Search for Bemfa → log in with your Bemfa Cloud account
3. Wait for devices to sync → voice control is ready
